The E-Map feature in IC Secure Desktop allows users to place camera icons on floor plan images. This helps operators see where cameras are located and open live video from a visual map of the site.
Uploading a Floor Plan
Floor plans are added from the E-Map management page.
To upload a floor plan:
- Click Settings in the top navigation bar.
- Under E-Map, select Import & Setup.
- Select the IC Secure server or station from the left panel.
- Choose an upload option in the top-right corner.
- Select the floor plan image or folder from the computer.
- Confirm the upload.
The uploaded floor plan appears under All Maps on the E-Map management page.
Use clear map names, such as First Floor, Parking Structure, or Building A - Floor 1. For multi-story buildings, upload a separate floor plan for each floor and name each map clearly.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Upload File | Adds a single floor plan image. |
| Upload Folder | Adds multiple map images from a folder. |
Placing Cameras on the Map
After a map is uploaded, cameras can be placed from the E-Map management page.
To place cameras on a map:
- Click Settings in the top navigation bar.
- Under E-Map, select Import & Setup.
- Select the IC Secure server or station from the left panel.
- Double-click the floor plan or satellite image you want to edit.
- Drag cameras from the camera list onto the map.
- Position each camera icon where the camera is physically installed.
- Adjust the camera direction or field-of-view area if needed.
- Click Done to save the map placement.
The map shows camera icons and coverage areas based on the camera positions and directions configured on the map.
Viewing Live Video from the Map
Cameras placed on an E-Map can be opened directly from the map view.
To open live video from the map:
- Open the E-Map view.
- Select the map from the map drop-down.
- Double-click a camera icon on the map.
- The camera live feed opens in the view grid.
This lets operators use the map to locate a camera by physical position, then open the related live video feed.
Managing Multiple Maps
Multiple maps can be managed from the E-Map management page and selected from the E-Map view.
In E-Map view, use the map drop-down to switch between uploaded maps. Available maps also appear in the left navigation panel when working in E-Map management.
For larger sites, create separate maps for different buildings, floors, parking areas, or other major locations. Use clear names so operators can quickly choose the correct map.
Best Practice
Use accurate floor plans so camera placement is easy to understand. Orient camera icons to match the physical direction of each camera when the option is available.
Update E-Maps when cameras are moved, added, or removed. For multi-site deployments, consider using a top-level overview map with links to individual building, floor, or site maps.
