Setting up EnGenius AP and Bridge (Without Local Network)

Prerequisites 

• EnGenius Access Point (AP)/ Bridge compatible devices such as ENH1350EXT as AP and EnStation5-AC/ ENH500V3 for the bridge.
• Laptop/ PC
• Network Cables (at least 4)
• Something to document the configuration information after the setup (IP addresses, login credentials, SSID, etc)

AP Setup

1. Power the AP with its respective Power Injector. 

ENH1350EXT AP

A) Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN(PoE) port of the AP/Bridge and the other end to the PoE Port on the PoE Adapter.

B) Connect the Power cord with the PoE Adapter and plug the other end into an electrical outlet.

C) Connect the second Ethernet cable into the LAN port of the PoE Adapter and the other end to the Ethernet Port on the computer.

D) Screw on any provided antennas to the top of devices (for ENH1350EXT).

Note: The AP/Bridge should ONLY be powered via an Ethernet cable connected to the included PoE Adapter.

2. Logging into the AP The EnGenius Devices are on DHCP, but if there is no local network (with a DHCP server), it will be on 192.168.1.1.

Connect the PC to the LAN section of the POE injector of the AP using an ethernet cable.

• A) Turn on your PC. 
  Note: For MAC users, see this link on how to change your PC's IP.
• B) Using a Windows PC, select Start, then type "settings." Select Settings > Network & Internet.
• C) Under Ethernet, click Properties
• D) Edit IP settings, and select Manual. Set the IP to 192.168.1.10 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
  
  

When you're done, click Save.

3. IP Setup

A) Open a web browser, then type in "192.168.1.1" then press "Enter" to access the login page. Login to the web GUI of the Access Point /Bridge device. By default, the username of the AP/Bridge is admin and the password is admin. Enter the current username and password of the AP and then click Login.

Note: You will be prompted to change your password when logging into the device with the default password. If you do not see this prompt, you can change the device password under System Manager > Account.

We recommend you change and document the password for safekeeping. In the event the password is lost, you will need to factory reset the unit. IC Realtime will not be able to assist you with resetting your password.

B)  Once logged in, you can change the device to a static IP by clicking on "Basic" under "Network".

• Under IPV4 Settings, select Static IP. Enter the desired IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and the Primary and Secondary DNS. Change the AP to a different IP, such as 192.168.1.20. It is not recommended to leave the AP on the default IP
  

• Click "Save" in the bottom left.

  Note: After saving the settings, you will see a prompt on the bottom right of the page. You can click Apply to apply the settings immediately.
  

4. Configuring the Access Point

A) Click on "Wireless" under "Network."

Under Operation Mode:
Select Access Point under the dropdown menu for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Note: If you know the estimated distance between the bridge, you can set that under Distance.
 

B) SSID Setup:  

Under Wireless Settings: Make sure the Enabled check box is checked in. Click Edit. A new window will open to configure the Access Point settings.

Under Wireless Setting - Access Point 2.4GHz/5GHz:

Under Enable, check in the 2.4 and 5 GHz check boxes.

Under SSID, create a name. In this example, the SSID is named "EnGenius_AP1" for identification. 

Under Wireless Security:

Select "WPA2-PSK" in the Security Mode drop-down menu.
Under Passphrase, create and document a password for the SSID. 

Click "Save" in the bottom-left when finished to close the Access Point settings window.

C) Back on the Network> Wireless section, click "Save" on the bottom right to save the configuration. 

Note: After saving the settings, you will see a prompt on the bottom right of the page. You can click Apply to apply the settings immediately.

D) You can now disconnect the ethernet cable connecting the AP from the PC.

Bridge Setup

1. Power the Client Bridge with its respective Power Injector. 

A) Remove the rear bottom panel.

B) Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN(PoE) port of the
device and the other end to the PoE Port on the PoE Adapter.

C) Connect the Power cord to the PoE Adapter and plug the other end
into an electrical outlet.

D) Connect the second Ethernet cable into the LAN port of the PoE
Adapter and the other end to the Ethernet Port into the computer.
Place the panel removed from step A back onto the device.

2. Login to the web GUI of the Bridge device

A) Open a web browser, then type in "192.168.1.1" then press "Enter" to access the login page. Login to the web GUI of the Access Point /Bridge device. By default, the username of the Bridge is admin and the password is admin. Enter the current username and password of the AP and then click Login.

Note: You will be prompted to change your password when logging into the device with the default password. 

We recommend you change and document the password for safekeeping. In the event the password is lost, you will need to factory reset the unit. IC Realtime will not be able to assist you with resetting your password.

3. IP Settings

Once logged in, you change the device to a static IP by clicking on "Basic" under "Network".

• Under IPV4 Settings, select Static IP. Enter the desired IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and the Primary and Secondary DNS. Change the AP to a unique IP, such as 192.168.1.21. It is not recommended to leave the Bridge on the default IP
  
• Once finished, click "Save" in the bottom left.

Note: After saving the settings, you will see a prompt on the bottom right of the page. You can click Apply to apply the settings immediately.

4. Bridge Configuration

A) Navigate the Bridge Web GUI to Basic > Wireless:

B) Under Wireless Settings, you can change the Device Name to something unique and easy to identify (Such as "Bridge_1" for the first device and "Bridge_2" for the second, and so on), especially if you plan to add multiple bridges.

C) Under Operation Mode, select Client Bridge in the drop-down menu. 

D) Click "Save" in the bottom left.

Note: After saving the settings, you will see a prompt on the bottom right of the page. You can click Apply to apply the settings immediately.

E) Navigate the Bridge web GUI to Basic > Wireless. Under AP Detection, click Scan to open the SSID list page and then select the SSID of the Access Point you created previously.

Under Wireless Security:

Under Security Mode, select WPA2-Personal on the drop-down. 
Under Passphrase, enter the password you previously created for the AP SSID. 
Click "Save" in the bottom-left when finished to close the window.

F)  Back on the Network> Wireless section, click "Save" on the bottom right to save the configuration. 

Note: After saving the settings, you will see a prompt on the bottom right of the page. You can click Apply to apply the settings immediately.


G) You can ensure the Bridge is wirelessly connected to the Access Point by going to OverView > Connections.

From there, you can check if the SSID matches the correct AP SSID, and if the Connection Status is Associated.

• If it is not connected, the status will be Not Associated. If this is the case, we recommend you factory reset the units and start the process over.

Optional Step: If the units are being staged and will be moved into another network, we recommend you set the IP address of the units back to DHCP.

Optional: You can hide the SSID from scans by enabling Hidden SSID in the AP web GUI (under Wireless Settings - Access Point > Edit). This is recommended only after the AP and bridge are configured and connected.
