If you’ve recently installed or adjusted a dome camera and it’s either not booting or it’s power cycling, this could be due to an issue with the ribbon cable connection. The ribbon cable attaches the lens to the circuit board. This problem is less frequent in bullet and eyeball camera types because you don't need to rotate the lens assembly to adjust the angle of the camera.
Root Cause
Dome cameras require you to rotate the entire lens assembly to adjust the viewing angle. This rotation can cause the ribbon cables that connect the lens to the board to get caught and typically results in the ribbon cable becoming disconnected or partially unseated.
Solution
Reconnecting the ribbon cable will resolve these types of problems.

Power off the camera: Before starting, power off the camera to avoid any electrical damage.

Remove the dome housing cover: Most domes will require a Torx screwdriver to remove the housing.

Locate the ribbon cable: The ribbon cable is a flat, wide cable that connects the lens to the board. See the example screenshot below for a properly connected ribbon cable.

Check the connection: If the ribbon cable is loose or partially seated, gently re-seat the cable. Ribbon cables and the connector can be fragile so proceed with caution.

Close the camera and power on: After reconnecting the ribbon cable, put the dome housing back on and power the camera. Ensure the weather seal is properly seated before closing the camera back up.
Remember, always handle electronic components with care to prevent any damage.
