Introduction
When the IC Now Pro server cannot directly access an edge device (recorder or IP camera) via IP address or domain name, the "auto registration" service provides an easy & flexible solution. The service enables edge devices in dynamic IP environments (e.g. WAN DHCP) to connect with an IC Now Pro server that uses a static WAN IP or domain address. By opening the appropriate listening port, edge devices can initiate communication and establish a connection to the IC Now Pro server to allow for seamless video streaming. It’s easy to configure, cost-effective, and meets key connectivity business needs.
Connection example
IC Now Pro server auto registration port
By default the ARS port is 9500. If the port is already in use by another service running on the server the IC Now Pro management console will automatically assign another available port to the ARS service. To allow incoming registration requests from edge devices (NVR/HDVR/IPC), this port will need to be forwarded in your firewall settings.
Edge device configuration
When configuring an IC Realtime edge device, you must provision the device prior to enrolling it into the IC Now Pro server. This process involves accessing the network settings of the device via the local GUI or web GUI and selecting the "Register" section.
- Enable the service
- Set the "Server Address" to the WAN IP or domain address of the IC Now Pro server
- Input the IC Now Pro "ARS" port that has been port forwarded in the firewall
- Choose a "label" for the device and input it into the 'Sub-Device ID' field. This must be unique from any other device you plan to also use with IC Now Pro ARS. This field supports alpha-numeric characters in addition to . (period), - (hypen), _ (underscore). Characters that are NOT allowed to be input are: < > & ' " \ / : * ? |

IC Now Pro device registration
After the edge device provisioning is complete, go to a Windows workstation with the IC Now Pro client installed & log in as a user with "administrator" or higher permissions. Follow the standard device enrollment procedures. The process will be the same up until Step 7, but for the "Add Mode" you will choose Auto Registration
