IC Secure (Desktop) provides PTZ controls for supported pan, tilt, and zoom cameras. This article explains how to open the PTZ panel, move a PTZ camera, adjust zoom, use presets, configure patrol routes, and use auto-tracking when supported.
Opening the PTZ Panel
To open the PTZ panel:
- Select a PTZ camera in live view.
- If the PTZ panel does not appear automatically, click PTZ in the toolbar.
The PTZ panel is only active for cameras that support PTZ functions. Fixed cameras may not show PTZ controls, or the controls may appear unavailable.
Directional Controls
The directional pad in the PTZ panel controls camera movement.

| Arrow Button | Toggles PTZ controls. Clicking and dragging on the image moves the camera. A red line will indicate direction. |
| Speed Slider | Adjust how fast the camera moves. Lower speeds are better for precise movement, while higher speeds are better for larger movements. |

Some systems may also support click-and-drag PTZ movement directly on the live video. When supported, the camera moves in the direction of the drag, and the distance from center may affect movement speed.
Zoom, Focus, and Iris
PTZ cameras may provide zoom, focus, and iris controls depending on the camera model.

Preset Positions
Presets save specific PTZ positions so the camera can return to important views when presets are configured.
To use presets, open the Presets section in the PTZ panel. Available preset options depend on the camera model and configuration.
Patrol Routes
Patrols move a PTZ camera through a configured sequence of preset positions when patrols are configured.
To use patrols, open the Patrols section in the PTZ panel. Available patrol options depend on the camera model and configuration.
Auto-Tracking
Some PTZ cameras support auto-tracking. When enabled, the camera can follow supported moving objects within the scene.
To use auto-tracking:
- Open the PTZ panel.
- Locate the Auto-Track option.
- Enable auto-tracking.
When supported motion is detected, the camera follows the moving object and adjusts pan, tilt, or zoom to keep it in view. When tracking ends, the camera may return to its home position, a preset, or the previous view depending on the camera configuration.
Auto-tracking performance depends on the camera model, scene complexity, and tracking configuration. It usually works best in open scenes with clear subject movement. When tracking ends, the camera returns to its configured home position.
