Introduction
The NVR-8256DR-V2 is an enterprise-grade NVR made to handle 256 IP channels. The Hardware includes a downloadable desktop software- the NVRSS Pro. This guide includes initial setup, initialization, and installation of the hardware's desktop application.
First-Time Setup and Initialization
Physical Setup:
Make sure the NVR is powered according to the specifications (Both power cables should be used to power the unit). Connect a network cable from NVR's Network port1 to the local network. The other network ports will typically connect to switches containing the IP cameras.
Initialization:
Note: Local GUI setup will follow most of the same steps below.
- Once the NVR has been powered and connected to the local network, you can use the ConfigTool to scan for the device. See here for more information on using the ConfigTool.
- Open a web browser, input the IP address of the NVR and press Enter to access the NVR. Input the proper region, then click Next.
- Input the appropriate time settings for the NVR. here, you will have the option for NTP sync if Sync with Internet Time Server is checked in. Click Next when finished to continue.
- Create a password for the admin account. Type in the password created under Confirm password as well. Click Next to continue.
- Important! Set up security questions for password retrieval. This is the only way to retrieve the passwords as Backdoor Codes will not work on this device. Create answers for the recovery questions. You can change the questions using the dropdown.
Secure the answers so they are accessible in case the password of the NVR is lost or forgotten. - After initializing the device, you can click Enter Quick Settings to setup the IP of the NVR.
- In the IP Set section, click
to modify the IP address of that Network port.
You can then set the Network port to a static IP of your choice. Click OK when finished to save, and then Finish to log in to the NVR. - In the login screen of the NVR, you can log in by entering the login credentials or click Download PCAPP to download the NVRSS Pro Desktop Software.
- Once downloaded, run the install file for NVRSS Pro.
In the install screen, you can click on Custom to select a different file path for the install. You can also check the option for a Desktop shortcut. Click Install to begin the installation. Click Run when complete to run the software. - When NVRSS-Pro is running, input the IP of the NVR-8256-V2 into the address bar, then press Enter to access the NVR.
Input the login credentials to enter the NVR.
