PTZ Idle Motion Setup

Introduction

The PTZ idle motion function in a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera lets you set a timer for when the camera is not being controlled. After this idle time passes, the camera automatically goes back to a pre-programmed action, which could be one of the following:

• Preset: The camera moves to a specific position that was saved earlier.
• Scan: The camera slowly moves back and forth between two or more saved points.
• Tour: The camera follows a path, moving through a series of saved positions in a set order.
• Pattern: The camera repeats a series of movements that were manually recorded.

For this feature to work, you should have already set up one of the above options (Preset, Scan, Tour, or Pattern). You can set this up either through the camera's On Screen Display (OSD) or through the camera's web menu, which you can access by logging into the camera's settings through a browser.

This feature helps ensure the camera stays active and functional even when no one is directly controlling it.

Instructions

1. Login to the camera via IP or OSD. (If on IP,  select Setup->PTZ->Function->Idle Motion).
   
2. You must first set up a preset, scan, tour, or pattern for the function to default back to.
   
3. Under Idle Time enter the amount of time it takes to initiate Idle Motion, and click Save.
   
   *If you get an error message that means you have not first set up a preset, scan, tour or pattern yet.
