This guide explains how to install IC Secure Desktop on a Windows computer. The installer includes the server component for recording and camera management, the client component for viewing video, or both depending on the installation type selected.
Before You Begin
Before installing IC Secure Desktop, verify the following:
You have confirmed the computer meets the system requirements.
You have administrator privileges on the Windows computer.
- If third-party antivirus software blocks the installer, allow the installer through the antivirus software or temporarily disable the antivirus during installation.
Downloading the Installer
To download the installer:
- Visit the IC Realtime support portal or contact your dealer to obtain the latest IC Secure Desktop installer.
- Download the installer
.exefile to the desktop or Downloads folder. - Confirm the file downloaded completely before continuing.
Installing IC Secure
To install IC Secure (Desktop):
- Right-click the installer file and select Run as administrator.
- On the welcome screen, click Next.
- Read and accept the license agreement, then click Next.
- Choose the installation type.

- Select the installation directory or accept the default path.
- Click Install and wait for the installation to complete.
- When prompted, click Finish to close the installer.

| Server + Client | Installs both components on this computer. This is recommended for the server deployment. |
| Client Only | Installs only the viewing client. Use this option for monitoring workstations that connect to a separate IC Secure server. |
Note: A system restart may be required after installation. Save any open work before continuing.
Initial Configuration
After activation, complete the initial configuration steps below.

| Configure recording storage | Go to Settings > Recording > Recording options and assign the storage location used for video recording. Use dedicated storage separate from the operating system drive when possible. |
| Add cameras | Go to Settings > Device > Cameras and use Add Camera to scan for or add cameras. See Adding Cameras to IC Secure Desktop for detailed instructions. |
| Set recording schedules | Go to Settings > Recording > Recording options and configure the schedule for each camera or recording group. See Setting Up Recording in IC Secure Desktop for more information. |
| Create user accounts | Go to Settings > User > Users and create accounts for operators and administrators. See Managing Users in IC Secure Desktop for more information. |
Verifying Your Installation
To confirm the installation is working:
- Open IC Secure and log in with an administrator account.
- Confirm that cameras appear in the device tree on the left panel.
- Double-click a camera to open live view and confirm the video stream loads.
- Go to Recording and confirm that recording indicators show active recording for the configured cameras.
