Introduction and Prerequisite
The Face Recognition feature compares the face image captured with faces added to the face database and can link to an alarm output based on the comparison result. To achieve this, the IC Realtime IP camera should support Face Recognition. It is also recommended to use an IC Realtime NVR that supports Face Recognition to be able to use the AI Face search through the recorder. If you are configuring the face database via web GUI, you will need to use IE and install the appropriate plugins for that device.
Note: Once you set this up on the camera, you do not need to set it up on the NVR, although you can add more faces or modify using the NVR interface. NVR Setup Instructions here.
HTML5 versions of the web GUI do not support file upload for the face database.
You do not need an SD card on the IPC to create a database; the SD card will be used for recording storage.

Initial Face Recognition and Database Setup
1. Type in the IP address using Internet Explorer of the Face Recognition and log in.
2. Click on the Home Page () on the upper right side. Click on the AI icon (), then click on Smart Plan. Enable Face Recognition and click Next.
3. Click Face Database Config ( ). Click the Add button. A Prompt will appear. Create a name for the Database, then click OK to save settings.
4. Click on the icon under Details. The interface below will appear. Here you will be able to add face images to the database as a single file or use batch upload for multiple images.
5. A) Single Image Register: To register a single face picture, Click on "Register" and the Register prompt will appear. Click the icon to upload a face image. A window will appear so you can browse your local computer files for the images.
Use the Register ID window to add additional information to this face entry, including Name (required) and gender, etc. Click "Add to Task List" when finished. A message will confirm a successful face addition, and the added face will appear in the face database.
B) Batch Registration: You can also upload multiple face images by clicking "Batch Register." A Task List prompt will appear. Click on to browse your local computer files for the image folder. After selecting the folder, click on to add the faces. The face images will be registered and modeled into the camera database.
When using Batch register or adding single face images, you can name the image files (before uploading to the database) in the following format to include the information when importing to the database:
"[Name]#S[Gender]#B[Date of Birth]#T[Type of Credentials]#M[ID Number]"
6. Once the faces are added to the database, you will see a list of the added faces.
Click when finished.
7. In the Face Database Config section, click on the icon under Arm Alarm. Enable the Arm toggle.
Under report mode, you can select:
- All: The IPC will compare detected faces with faces in the database and trigger alerts for recognized faces as well as prompt Stranger and trigger alerts for faces detected that are not in the database..
- General: The IPC will compare detected faces with faces in the database and trigger alerts for recognized faces.
- Stranger: The IPC will prompt Stranger and trigger alerts when faces are detected that are not in the database.
- None: Face Database will be inactive.
You can also configure triggers in the Arm Alarm section such as:
- Local SD card recording
- Email Notification
- Snapshot (this is enabled by default, and is necessary for push notifications and AI search)
Once you have configured the settings, click Apply at the bottom to save.
8. Click on the AI () tab. Under Face Recognition, click the Enable toggle on ().
then click Apply at the bottom to save.
