Background
- IC Realtime IP cameras are typically ONVIF compliant and will be added to Elan using a generic ONVIF driver. Make sure the devices you are adding to Elan are ONVIF compliant.
- You may need to enable ONVIF in older IC Realtime cameras and create an ONVIF Account (Under Setup > System > Accounts of camera web GUI).
- IP Cameras should be set up on a switch on the local network with a static IP and not utilizing the built-in POE ports of NVRs. Streaming directly from the NVR IP is not supported.
General Configuration
In the guide below we will cover both in Configurator V1 and V2. Configurator V2 is quicker and easier to setup.
Configurator V1
1) Open the Elan Configurator. Click on the Video tab on the left menu.
2) Under Video Cameras/Sources, click ">" then click on "Add New Video Source/Camera"
3) Select "ONVIF Video Source (Static)" if using a fixed lens IPC and then click on OK.
If using a PTZ camera, select "ONVIF Video Source (Dynamic)" Then, input the ONVIF username and password and click on "Search for Devices." Select the PTZ device and click OK.
4) Select the added driver under the Video Cameras/Sources tree. Input the IP Address and the ONVIF username/password of the camera (and name if necessary), then click Apply at the bottom to save.
Configurator V2
1) Open the Configurator V2 and go to System -> Discovery and set the Enable Scanner to Enabled. It will scan for all available devices and give you the install option.
2) Select Install next to the desired camera. A window will pop up to put in login information and press install again.
3) You can check your camera status by going to Video->Video Camera
Added cameras can be viewed from the Elan Viewer under Video.
Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing issues with getting camera streams to load this section will help you troubleshoot the common issues.
- The most common reason is the camera Encode settings are still set to H.265 instead of being changed to H.264.
- You can quickly check for this by looking in the Configurator->Video->Video Camera select the camera and click on Onvif Setting. If the list is empty then it did not detect any support video streams.
- Log into the camera web interface navigate to Settings->Camera->Encode And change all the streams to H.264 instead of default H.265.
- In the configurator, it is best to remove the camera and install it again so it auto-detects the streams.
- In configurator V2 it is the same but just expand the device tree to select onvif setting.
- You can quickly check for this by looking in the Configurator->Video->Video Camera select the camera and click on Onvif Setting. If the list is empty then it did not detect any support video streams.
- If the Status in the configurator is "Ok" and you already checked #1 then the next step would be to check Firmware. Please contact tech support for assistance.
