By default all our recorders are equipped and enabled with buzzers for abnormalities. We highly recommend leaving this functionality turned on.
This will be an in-depth guide on system alerts with IC Realtime recorders.
- Hard Drive (HDD) Abnormalities
- Types of HDD Abnormalities
- Alarm-out Port
- Network and Device abnormalities
Not to be confused with Motion Detection / Video Detection and Setting up Alarms
These are the system alarms of the recorder itself, in the event of a hard drive malfunction, network connectivity errors and other recorder abnormalities.
Hard Drive (HDD) Abnormalities
By default our recorders comes with a buzzer alarm system to alert users of a hard drive failure with a steady single beep sound.
You can find this setting under Advanced Settings -> Alert Center-> Abnormality
Types of HDD Abnormalities
From this window you can manage all possible hard drive abnormalities.
Please note: Not all will be used depending on the NVR system you use.
- No Disk: Meaning the hard drive is not being detected by the system. It can indicate either a hard drive error or that the disk is gone.
- Disk Error: Our recorders use the standard SMART hard drive self-monitoring, analysis and reporting technology to diagnose hard drives. By default this buzzer is enabled, when a disk error is detected in the drive.
- Low Space: You can specify an alarm to alert when you hard drive is at a specific percentage left of free space.
- RAID Exceptions: Similar to disk errors this is an advanced alarm for RAID arrays if your recorder is equipped multiple drives.
- Low Quota Space: This is an alert based on HDD quota settings.
- Disk Health Exception: This is part of the SMART warning system and is only compatible with Seagate Skyhawk 4TB drives or higher.
Selecting the "More" button will allow you to fine tune the recorders response to abnormalities.
If you wish for your recorder to send email notifications of a hard drive error you will first need to follow our Email Notifications guide.
Alarm-out Port
Alarm-out ports can be used to hook up your recorder to phoenix compatible 3rd party alarm systems.
Network and Device abnormalities
By default both of these abnormalities are set only for logging. If you by chance need to make changes to these system you can follow the steps above to make changes to them.
Please note: Sending email notifications for network abnormalities will not function until the recorder regains a network connection with internet capabilities.
