VLC
VLC is a free open source streaming media server it supports many audio and video compression methods, file formats, and streaming-protocols. It is able to stream media over computer networks and can transcode multimedia files.
Here at IC Realtime we mainly use VLC to watch downloaded clips and to test RTSP Strings
USING VLC TO TEST STRINGS
Once you've gotten a Third Party Manufacturers rtsp string or ICRealtime rtsp string, shown below. You can test the string in VLC and here's how:
Here are the RTSP strings for IC Realtime cameras
Main Stream: rtsp://<ip_address>:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0
Sub Stream: rtsp://<ip_address>:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1
- Open VLC Player and select "Media" then "Open Network Stream"
- Now type in your string and select "Play"
- Enter the camera credentials, if prompted
- If RTSP string and credentials are correct,, then you should successfully see Live Feed
After that you are prepared to add it to your desired device.
