Failed HDD:
Why is there no playback?
- Sometimes when the HDD has been corrupted there is a possibility that your footage was also corrupted and will not be able to be replayed. In this case, the best thing to do is replace your HDD with a new one to prevent further data loss. Here at ICRealtime we recommend the Seagate Skyhawk Surveillance.
- HDD compatibility varies based on Recorder age due to different advancements in technology.
Why is my recorder making a beeping sound when it's powered on?
- When an HDD has gone bad and is not functioning the recorder will make multiple beeps sounds to notify the user of an error in the system. To verify that the issue lies with the HDD, unplug the HDD power on the unit and wait to hear a beep.
Why is there no display but the system appears to power?
- If the HDD has failed sometimes it corrupts the whole system. Meaning the system will not boot and it will not complete POST. If this is the case then try removing the HDD and power cycle the unit.
Why is there a clicking noise?
- In an HDD there are plates that rotate, all the memory gets written into those plates and after long-term use or if the HDD gets dropped the plates will break or get misplaced and they will create a *clicking*. That noise is due to one of the plates hitting another object in the case.
