Intermittency or no image at all from a coaxial camera may be frustrating, but following these steps can help get a stable image. Reasons may vary, however we can take troubleshooting steps to one possibility may be due to the coaxial cable being used is faulty or the cable run surpasses the recommended range for data transmission. Another possible reason may be due to electrical interference in the environment where the cameras are connected.
The steps below will help you troubleshoot your cameras and determine where the issue is located.
Coaxial Cable:
- Unmount the camera from its location and connect to the recorder using a separate coaxial cable, either a new cable or one that is known to work. If a live image feed displays through the recorder, the original coaxial cable is faulty.
- In some cases, cameras may be mounted past the recommended cable run length of 750 feet, which will cause the image to drop out or receive no image at all. If this is the case, move the camera closer, inside the 750 feet range
Fuzzy Image or No Image At All
- If the image is fuzzy or you notice the image being distorted and horizontal line across the image, the camera may be getting interference from other electrical equipment where the camera is connected. To prevent electrical interference, a ground loop isolator for coaxial connection is recommended.
- If you receive no image at all please ensure the dip switches for the camera are set to the corresponding video format being used at the recorder.
